By completely welding all seams, our products are 100% waterproof. When assessing functionality, various criteria play a role. The RET value determines the resistance that a textile material opposes to water vapor. The lower this resistance, the more breathable the material.
An important factor in the measurement of technical materials is the water column. It measures the degree of watertightness. The water column determines the water pressure, measured in millimeters, at which the material begins to let water through. Schöffel sets a minimum standard of 10,000 mm water column for laminates in order to label an article watertight. This value ensures that water does not penetrate the fabric, even in extreme conditions.
